It was issued by the Deutsche Bundesbank in the Federal Republic of Germany as a 10 Deutsche Mark (DEM) banknote, part of the Deutsche Mark currency series (1948-2001).
This banknote features an early portrait of Lucas Cranach the Elder on the right side and the denomination "10 Deutsche Mark" on the left.
On the back is the sailing training ship Gorch Fock of the type Bark symbolizes the German openness to the world.
